Canon EOS 7D

Canon EOS 7D is almost there… At least according to Chinese forum where I found this news. Is it fake or not, the time will tell. Parallel with EOS 7D announcement, Canon will present three new lenses:
EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS
EF 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM Macro

I don’t speak Chinese but we can see basic info about EOS 7D
* Dual DIGIC 4 imaging processors, 14-bit A/D signal conversion
* 8 FPS (94 Large/Fine JPEGS or 15 RAW)
* 19 points cross type AF sensors. Eight-directional double cross central AF point
* 18 megapixels APS-C CMOS Sensor
* ISO 100-6400, extends to 12800
* 100% coverage, 1.0x optical viewfinder with intelligent display, with electronic horizon line.
* 3.0″ LCD, 920,000 dot resolution, 160 degree viewing angle
* New iFCL meter system using high contrast and color detection (63-zone)
* Newly-designed streamlined body, metallic shutter sound, shutter lifespan approx. 150,000 times
* HD movie, HDMI out, external mic input
* EOS Integrated Dust Removal system
* Live view with Face-priority AF
* Auto Lighting Optimizer
* Auto correction of lens peripheral illumination (vignetting)
* New switch for Live View/Video mode
* New 24mm wide-angle built-in flash supporting EOS E-TTL II

It looks like the Canon EOS 7D will be based on an APS-C (1.6x crop) CMOS sensor. Will it be fast enough to beat Nikon D300s?

Enhanced license settlement

Few days ago I received this email from ShutterStock. I was totally impressed because I taught it is impossible to find out something like this.

Shutterstock Images LLC recently settled a claim against one of its Subscribers. We found the Subscriber had exceeded the circulation limits of the Standard Licenses granted to it by Shutterstock. As a remedy the client has agreed to purchase the Enhanced License for all the images it has used in this way.

Our research indicates that one or more of your images was downloaded and used by the Subscriber.

Rather than deduct the legal and administrative expenses incurred by Shutterstock in reaching the settlement, Shutterstock has elected to distribute the bulk of the settlement proceeds to affected Submitters and absorb the majority of the costs of the settlement. We believe the settlement to be fair and reasonable given all of the circumstances surrounding the breach of our Terms of Service.

Within 24-48 hours you will notice an Enhanced License credit in your account for each of your images downloaded and used by the Subscriber.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions regarding this matter.

As result I received $28 for my favorite image LINK

Photo scanning howto

Creating digital images is not so hard when you have digital camera but what if you want to transfer your old images on DVD or your computer? This can be done with your home scanner but what if you have hundreds of images?

Scanning allows you to create digital files, make new prints of old photos or negatives, e-mail them to friends, and more. If you’re new to photo scanning, you’ll need to take care about aligning, resolution, colors, image size, etc. Top quality scans can’t be done without a quality scanner and first you must determine what you eventually want to do with your scanned photo. You’ll need to decide whether the scanned image will be e-mailed, printed, re sized, enlarged, or archived in order to choose the right resolution and file format.

Scanner resolution is measured in dots per inch (dpi) and the more dots you have means the sharper the image. File format is also important. It refers to the way that scans are saved to the computer (JPEG, PNG, TIFF). You can identify a file’s format by the extension after the dot at the end of the file name (such as .jpg, .jpeg, .gif or .tif).

Just like I said above, if you have to much images and you want top quality, photo scanning can be painfully slow and you should think about professional photo scanning service. They understand the value of your photos and take the responsibility of handling these precious materials very seriously. Also you will get the highest quality service where all images are cropped, rotated and color corrected manually. Fixing dust is also included in service.

They can to the same with your video tapes. Video transfer is a complicated procedure so you should send your tapes to professionals.

You don’t need to worry about your material. They will return your originals together with digital material you ordered.

Welcome home

Hi there… My last post was almost 6 months ago and it is a shame (I admit :( ) During those 5-6 months I had a lot of job (daily job) and it’s very hard to make some photos when you work almost 12hrs per day. Now it is time to do something with this blog and here I am…

First thing I will do is to upgrade WordPress. Latest version is uploaded and it seems OK (for now). If you found some problems (broken links, images, etc) please contact me.

Best regards
