Almost all stock agencies has some kind of subscription based model and it was the last moment for iStock to announce them.
This options is excellent for potential clients with larger budgets. Their accountants need the dependability of a fixed cost. iStock Subscriptions are recommended for magazines, “hungry” advertising agencies, bigger designers agencies, etc.
Pay-as-you-go credit system is not changing or going away. Current members will still be able to get all the stock images they need at the prices they love. First package will be at $96 per month.
Some answers:
Royalties
Each subscription download still counts as a normal download towards your canister level. Our royalty structure for Subscription downloads uses a straightforward formula. Each subscriber has a daily credit limit. We apply your standard canister royalty to the percentage of that daily limit which was used to download your image.
Are my images opted-in?
Every contributor will automatically have their portfolio available for subscribers to download. If, for some reason, you decide you don’t want to make your images available to subscribers, opting out is easy and you will be given ample time to do so. You will also be able to opt-out individual images.
Remember, this system is still in private beta testing, so stay tuned for more pricing and detailed information in the coming weeks…
