Dust removal systems

You probably want to know how dust removal system works? Sensor cleaning probably should be the first thing you need to know about SLR cameras. Digital SLR cameras are very sensitive to the dust particles found in the air, especially when you exchange lenses. Maybe you wont notice it but it will be visible on the images as black or dark spots when the image is taken with a small aperture (high F number). Modern digital cameras, usually has technique to get rid of the dust from the image sensor. All commercials promise clean images without dust and dark spots. Unfortunately reality is a little bit different.

Surfing through the Internet was helpful. I found very good link about dust removal systems. Róbert Irházy (Birdie) and his friends from pixinfo.com decided to test popular cameras with dust removal systems. They tested next cameras: Sony Alpha A100, Pentax K10D, Olympus E300 and Canon 400D. So different cameras, different techniques. Complete test you can find on http://pixinfo.com/en/articles/ccd-dust-removal/ (new window)

Bellow you can see Canon 400D promotion and dust removal system details.
