Installation procedure

Before you start with installation, you must find web hosting with (at least):

  • Sufficient Webspace: for PixelPost takes only 400 KB, but for your images you will need much more.
  • Apache Webserver or Windows IIS (Apache recommended)
  • PHP, version 4.3.0 or higher
  • PHP with GD-lib (compiled with JPG-support), required for thumbnails
  • MySQL version 3.24.58 or higher
  • Before you start with installation you will need a MySQL database. If you have no MySQL Database running, create
a database first (or ask your hoster to do it for you). You can use Phpmyadmin for this operation.

To install PixelPost, it is necessary to check whether your webspace supports these requirements and to have the following MySQL-database-informations at hand before you start to install:

  • name of the database-host (if you test Pixelpost on your local machine, you can use localhost as database host.
  • database username
  • database user password
  • database name

If you don’t have these informations, ask your hosting provider to provide you with these informations. Usually info about your hosting is on the contract.
After you find this information, download Pixelpost from HERE.

Extract archive to your local computer and use FTP to upload all content to your hosting place. Be sure to upload all files and directories from the archive. Keep the directory structure as it is.
Set permissions on images and thumbnails directories to 777 (CHMOD 777). Now open pixelpost.php file (located in /includes/) and enter the database information there:

$pixelpost_db_host = “localhost”; // database host, (if you test Pixelpost on your local machine, you can use localhost as database host.
$pixelpost_db_user = “replace_me”; // database user
$pixelpost_db_pass = “replace_me”; // database user password
$pixelpost_db_pixelpost = “replace_me”; // database

Save the file before closing and go to http://www.yoursite.com/where_you_installed_pixelpost/admin/install.php and follow the online instructions.
p.s. where_you_installed_pixelpost is an optional directory. For example, if you uploaded Pixelpost files and directories in pixelpost directory on your hosting space, you will need to go on http://www.yoursite.com/pixelpost/admin/install.php.

Now all you need is to follow the instructions.
